Heimo Stranner

Heimo Stranner serves as a PreDoc Researcher at the Institute of Business Informatics, Faculty of Informatics, TU Wien. His work bridges software engineering and business informatics, with a focus on microservices and industrial applications in automotive and healthcare sectors.

He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Diplom-Ingenieur (Master's equivalent) degree. His diploma thesis, completed at TU Wien in 2020, investigated microservice decomposition in automotive software migration.

Stranner's research centers on software architecture evolution, particularly microservice adoption in industrial settings. He explores critical challenges in software migration and the integration of AI, such as ML and LLM, in healthcare information systems, aiming to improve electronic patient record interactions in hospitals.

His key publication, a 2020 case study presented at ENASE, analyzes microservice decomposition in automotive software systems, contributing insights to software engineering practices for large-scale industrial migrations.

Currently, Stranner leads a project (2025-2026) with Dierks+Company Consulting GmbH, evaluating the criticality of AI support in hospital ePA systems, highlighting his expanding research into healthcare IT.
