Heikki Patomäki is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Helsinki, with affiliations to the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Doctoral Programme in Political, Societal and Regional Change. He also serves as a Docent at the University of Lapland and University of Turku.
- Research Focus: Global political economy, world statehood, futures studies, and peace research
- Projects: Leading the ICU Project (2021-2025) on institutional designs for an International Clearing Union
- Recognition: Recipient of the Outstanding Activist Scholar Award (2020-21)
His recent research explores cosmopolitan governance, AI implications for world politics, and alternative monetary systems. Publications include critical realism analyses, economic normative theory, and Ukraine War commentary.
