Professor Heike Rabe is a leading academic in Perinatal Medicine at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS), University of Sussex. She holds dual roles as a Professor of Perinatal Medicine and Honorary Consultant Neonatologist at Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals. Her research focuses on neonatal care, particularly umbilical cord management, non-invasive diagnostics, and family-integrated care. She leads international research consortia such as NEO-CIRC and RISEinFAMILY, addressing neonatal drug formulations and parental involvement in care. Rabe has authored over 200 publications and holds grants from the European Union and UK institutions. She is actively involved in training neonatologists through roles in the European School of Neonatology and BSMS teaching modules.
Education: MD and Habilitation from Westphalian-Wilhelms-University of Münster, Germany. Career highlights include building BSMS's neonatal research program since 2002 and leading global guidelines on cord clamping practices.
