Heidi Deneweth

Heidi Deneweth is a postdoctoral researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) with a 10% part-time engagement in neighborhood studies. She holds a PhD in History from VUB (2008) and has conducted postdoctoral research at Utrecht University and VUB. Her primary affiliation is with the HOST research team, focusing on urban transformation in Bruges and Brussels. She contributes to research groups BCUS (Brussels Urban Studies) and CHsB (Construction Histories).

**Research Interests**: Urban development, neighborhood dynamics, construction history, housing policies, labor markets, and social inequality. Her work emphasizes historical analysis of spatial segregation, real estate markets, and artisan entrepreneurship.

**Key Projects**: Includes 'Re-building Brussels' (2021–2026), exploring social inclusion through construction history, and 'Construction Histories' (2015–2028), analyzing urban development in Brussels. She also led the 'Risks and Opportunities' project (2016–2019) on Antwerp/Brussels builders.
