معرفی
Hector Sequera Mora is an Assistant Professor of Performance in the Department of Music at Durham University, affiliated with the Institute of Medieval and Early Modern Studies (IMEMS). His research focuses on Renaissance performance practice, lute sources, and vocal music from 1440–1700, with particular attention to Catholic domestic music networks in Elizabethan England and the Italian frottola tradition. He actively performs early chordophones across Europe and the Americas, blending performance with scholarly analysis using computational methods.
His work bridges historical musicology, source studies, and interdisciplinary approaches, including machine learning for reconstructing polyphonic music from lute tablature. Key projects include studies on William Byrd's consort songs and the music collection of Edward Paston. He is also involved in AHRC-funded performance projects like the reconstruction of a Medici masque and collaborations with the European Lute Orchestra.
Sequera serves as a departmental representative in IMEMS and contributes to research centres like the Zurbarán Centre for Spanish and Latin American Art. His teaching and supervision emphasize early music performance, source analysis, and the intersection of music with cultural history.
