Hector Arciniega, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at New York University Grossman School of Medicine. He holds affiliations with the Vilcek Institute of Graduate Biomedical Sciences and the NYU Langone Concussion Center. His research focuses on understanding the long-term consequences of repetitive head impacts in contact-sport athletes, health disparities in TBI outcomes, and maternal/fetal health after brain injury. Dr. Arciniega earned his PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Nevada, Reno, and completed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School/Brigham and Women's Hospital under Drs. Martha Shenton and Sylvain Bouix.
Key research areas include neuroimaging (structural, diffusion, functional MRI), neuropsychological assessments, and epidemiological studies. He leads the Arciniega Lab, which emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and diversity in neuroscience training.
