Heather N. Emady serves as an Associate Professor in the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy at Arizona State University, where she has held a faculty position since January 2015. Her research focuses on fundamental particle interactions with significant industrial applications in process design and product development.

Her group employs discrete element method simulations to bridge fundamental phenomena with industrial-scale applications in pharmaceuticals, consumer products, and energy sectors.

She actively mentors graduate students across chemical and materials engineering programs while leading externally funded research including a DOE-NETL project advancing open-source DEM frameworks with uncertainty quantification. Her service includes chairing the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Women's Initiatives Committee since 2017.
The Emady Research Group maintains strong industry collaborations, particularly with Procter & Gamble, focusing on translating fundamental particle science into practical manufacturing solutions for structured organic particulate systems.
