Heather L Dunn

Dr. Heather L Dunn is a Clinical Associate Professor and Director of the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Iowa College of Nursing. She is a board-certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP-BC) with a PhD in Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Dr. Dunn's clinical and research interests focus on the care of chronically critically ill patients, particularly those requiring prolonged mechanical ventilation in long-term acute care hospitals (LTACHs). Her work aims to address gaps in evidence-based guidelines for this patient population through latent class analysis to identify risk subgroups.

Dr. Dunn has presented nationally and internationally on post-intensive care rehabilitation and chronic critical illness. She was the first hospital-based pulmonary and critical care nurse practitioner in a nurse practitioner-dominated private practice in Davenport, Iowa.
