Heather J. Baer

Dr. Heather J. Baer is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She also serves as an Associate Epidemiologist in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Primary Care at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Her work integrates research, clinical practice, and education in public health and medicine.

Her research focuses on the role of lifestyle factors in chronic disease etiology and prevention, with emphasis on strategies for managing overweight and obesity in clinical settings. She actively explores the application of health information technology to improve disease prevention and management outcomes.

At the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Dr. Baer holds leadership roles as Faculty Director of the MPH in Epidemiology and Field of Study leader for the MPH in Clinical Effectiveness. She has received recognition for her teaching excellence, including the
