Heather Hamlin is a Professor and Director at the School of Marine Sciences, affiliated with the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry and Agriculture at the University of Maine. She balances her role between teaching (25%) and research (75%).
- Ph.D. in Environmental Physiology from University of Florida (2007)
Her research focuses on environmental influences on aquatic animal reproduction and development, particularly:
- Endocrine-disrupting contaminants and their impacts
- Reproductive challenges in commercial aquaculture
- Reducing contaminant burdens in aquaculture species
- Climate change effects on American lobsters
Hamlin's work examines low-dose pollutant exposures and non-linear dose-response curves in endocrine disruption studies, using sturgeon, killifish, and bamboo sharks as model species.
She is supported by the Maine Agricultural and Forest Experiment Station through Hatch project ME022319.
