Dr. Heather Cassie is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in the School of Dentistry at the University of Dundee. She holds a Baxter Research Fellowship and is undertaking a THIS Institute Postdoctoral Fellowship focused on reducing low-value care in primary dentistry using 'Choosing Wisely' methodology and behavior change theories. Her work bridges clinical practice, education, and policy.
Education and Professional Background: Heather completed a CSO Doctoral Fellowship (2017) exploring organizational factors influencing evidence-based guidance implementation in primary care. She has over a decade of experience with the University of Dundee’s Dental School and NHS Education for Scotland’s Clinical Effectiveness Workstream, emphasizing evidence-based guidance and service delivery.
Research Interests: Heather specializes in qualitative research methods and has conducted studies across dentistry, nursing, general practice, pharmacy, and optometry. Her current projects include evaluating interventions to reduce high-risk prescribing and improving healthcare training through large-scale educational approaches.
