Hayri Alper Arslan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), affiliated with the Alvarez College of Business. He joined UTSA in 2020 after completing a postdoctoral position at Queen’s University, Canada. Dr. Arslan holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Vanderbilt University, an M.S. from Sabanci University (Turkey), and a B.A. from Bogazici University (Turkey).
His research focuses on Empirical Industrial Organization, Market Design, and Revenue Management & Pricing, with emphasis on auctions, matching markets, and ticket pricing strategies. Key contributions include analyses of NFL ticket pricing variability, land sales under corruption, and college admissions mechanisms.
Dr. Arslan teaches intermediate microeconomics, econometrics, and industrial organization. He is an active member of professional organizations such as the American Economic Association and the Econometric Society. His work bridges theoretical models with real-world applications in sports, education, and public policy.
