Haydon Cherry is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at Northwestern University, affiliated with the Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences. He specializes in modern Southeast Asian history, particularly Vietnam. His work focuses on social, economic, and urban history in colonial contexts, with a notable book Down and Out in Saigon. He holds a Ph.D. from Yale University (2011) and has held fellowships at Harvard, McGill, and institutions in Leiden and Hanoi.

Teaching & Advising: Teaches courses on Southeast Asian and global history. Advises doctoral students in Vietnamese and Southeast Asian studies. Serves as Director of the Asian Studies Graduate Cluster.
Labs/Teams: Active in interdisciplinary research networks, including the Bodies and Structures project funded by the NEH.
