Hauke Werner is a Professor at the University of Göttingen and Project Group Leader in the Department of Neurochemistry. He leads the Neurochemistry Project Group focused on molecular mechanisms of myelination.
Research Interests:
- Evolutionary biology of myelin development
- Biogenesis and maintenance of myelin sheaths
- Proteomic profiling of myelin components
- Structure-function relationships in axonal myelination
- Pathobiology of leukodystrophies and demyelinating disorders
The lab employs mouse genetics, molecular biology techniques, and systematic proteome analysis to investigate both fundamental myelin biology and disease mechanisms. Current work examines how myelin integrity affects neuronal function and disease progression in heritable white matter disorders.
