Hasthika S. Rupasinghe

Hasthika S. Rupasinghe is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Appalachian State University, where he has been since 2017. His research focuses on Robust Statistics, Bootstrapping, Statistical Learning, and Regression Analysis. He earned a B.S. (Special) in Mathematics from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, followed by an M.S. and Ph.D. in Mathematics from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

His work addresses challenges in multivariate outlier detection and robust methodologies, with applications in predictive modeling and machine learning. He has contributed to bootstrap analogs for MANOVA and Hotelling’s T² tests, as well as regularization techniques like HRLR Regression. His publications span journals such as the International Journal of Statistics and Probability, and he has presented at conferences like ICTCM and Joint Mathematics Meetings.

Hasthika collaborates with colleagues on R package development (e.g., HRLR, OLSAVS) and has engaged in grant activities including the Chancellor’s Innovation Scholars Program and NSF proposals. His teaching includes courses like Linear Regression Models and Introduction to Statistics.
