Dr. Hasitha Welihinda is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine at Queen’s University. He serves as Program Director for the Nephrology Residency Training Program and leads the Comprehensive Conservative Kidney Care (CCKC) program at Kingston General Hospital. His clinical work focuses on general nephrology, hemodialysis, chronic kidney disease management, and palliative care consultation. Dr. Welihinda holds a MD from the University of Manitoba, completed internal medicine residency at the University of Saskatchewan, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Brandon University.
His research prioritizes quality-of-life outcomes and survival data in patients pursuing conservative management for end-stage kidney disease. Professional affiliations include the Ontario Renal Network (ORN) Palliative Care panel and cross-appointments with Queen’s Translational Institute of Medicine (TIME).
