Prof. Dr. Hasan Alp ÖZEL is a faculty member at Karabük University's Faculty of Management, Department of Actuarial Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Istanbul University (2011) and has been a Professor since 2021. His academic roles include serving as Vice Dean at Karabük University and previously as Head of the Department of Actuarial Sciences. His research focuses on macroeconomic topics such as economic growth, inflation, employment, and international trade.
Education: Undergraduate in Public Administration (2003), M.Sc. in Economics (2006), and Ph.D. in Economics (2011), all from Turkish institutions. He has taught courses like Macroeconomics, Monetary Policy, and Health Economics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Research Interests: His work explores the interplay between economic growth, inflation, employment, and globalization. He has investigated topics such as foreign trade dynamics, tourism revenues' impact on growth, and pension system participation. His recent studies emphasize actuarial risk management, asymmetric information in insurance, and policy design for retirement systems.
Notable Achievements: Received the 'Best Paper Award' at the 1st International Symposium on Innovative Approaches in Scientific Studies (2018). He has advised multiple postgraduate students on topics like actuarial risk transfer systems and pension fund analysis.
Grants and Projects: Led projects on trade-growth relationships in BRICS countries, tourism's economic impact, and the role of universities in local economies. He has also contributed to research on financial globalization and regional development policies.
Labs/Teams: Actively involved in interdisciplinary research groups focusing on macroeconomic policy, actuarial science applications, and regional economic development strategies.
