Harvey Newnham is an Adjunct Clinical Professor of General Medicine at Monash University and holds leadership roles as Director of General Medicine and Clinical Program Director of Emergency and Acute Medicine at Alfred Health. He is also a board member of Better Care Victoria and chairs Health Education Australia Limited (HEAL). His expertise includes acute healthcare delivery improvement, patient engagement, and interdisciplinary teamwork.
Education: PhD in Medicine (Endothelial Lipases) from Monash University (1990), MBBS (1979).
Research Interests: Patient-centered care, safety culture, healthcare systems approaches, and governance. Notable projects include initiatives on frailty care transitions and viral mapping for asthma outcomes.
Awards: 2018 MJA/MDA Prize for Excellence in Medical Research. Active in policy advisory roles, including Grattan Institute’s hospital safety review and Monash Partners’ advisory board.
