Harry Karahalios serves as a Lecturing Fellow in the Department of Romance Studies within Trinity College of Arts & Sciences at Duke University, a position he has held since 2017. Previously, he served as a Lecturing Fellow in the same department from 2010 to 2017. His office is located at 2122 Campus Drive, Box 90269, Durham, NC 27708-0269, with office hours on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30pm.

Dr. Karahalios' research focuses on contemporary peninsular Spanish and Greek literature and film, examining societal transitions in Spain and Greece from the twentieth to twenty-first century through the prisms of immigration, cultural diversity, and the 2008 economic crisis. His scholarly work critically engages with theories of nationalism, national and transnational cinemas, and migration studies, reflecting deep expertise in Iberian and Hellenic cultural production. His interdisciplinary approach bridges literary analysis with socio-political contexts of Southern Europe's contemporary challenges.
As an educator, Karahalios teaches across the Spanish language curriculum including Elementary Spanish (SPANISH 102), Intermediate Spanish (SPANISH 203), Advanced Intermediate Spanish (SPANISH 204), and Introduction to Cultural Studies (SPANISH 303). His pedagogy integrates research themes of migration and cultural identity, emphasizing real-world applications of language learning through contemporary societal issues.
Professionally, he participated in Duke's Faculty Curriculum on Anti-Racism (January 2021), demonstrating commitment to inclusive academic environments through the Duke Office of Faculty Advancement.
