Harold Abelson is a Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. As a co-founder of the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), he has driven transformative projects like MIT App Inventor and MIT OpenCourseWare, democratizing access to computational tools and educational resources globally.
His research spans computational thinking, free software advocacy, and policy frameworks for digital systems.
