Harm Derksen is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Northeastern University, located in Lake Hall. He previously served as faculty at the University of Michigan from 2000 to 2020 and held positions at MIT as a C.L.E. Moore Instructor. His academic journey includes a master’s degree from Radboud University (Nijmegen, Netherlands, 1993) and a PhD from the University of Basel (Switzerland, 1997).
His research focuses on pure and applied algebra, with specialties in Invariant Theory, Quiver Representations, and Tensors. He also explores Polynomial Automorphisms, Machine Learning applications, and Biomedical contexts. Derksen co-authored books on computational invariant theory and quiver representations.
