Professor Harin Sellahewa is the Dean of Computing at the University of Buckingham, leading the Faculty of Computing, Law and Psychology. He holds a BSc and DPhil in Computing from the same institution. His academic roles include Reader, Head of Applied Computing Department, and interim dean positions. He specializes in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Biometrics, and Digital Health, with over 50 peer-reviewed publications. He has supervised numerous PhD students and led Innovate UK-funded KTP projects with industry partners like Deepnet Security and Russell IPM.
Education: BSc and DPhil in Computing from the University of Buckingham. Post-doctoral work at the Gray Institute (University of Oxford) on the CyMap project.
Research Interests: His work focuses on AI-driven solutions for biometric security, digital health, cyber security, and AR/VR in education. He pioneered the Education 4.0 project with JISC and promotes STEM diversity initiatives.
Grants & Collaborations: Lead Academic in two KTP projects with Innovate UK. Active in industry-academia partnerships, particularly in smart agriculture and wearable technology. His work on facial recognition and steganography has applications in crime-fighting and secure communication.
Labs/Teams: Coordinates cross-disciplinary teams in AI, biometrics, and educational technology. Spearheads the use of AR/VR for STEM education outreach.
