Hari Balakrishnan is the Fujitsu Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT, affiliated with the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL). He leads research in networking, mobile computing, and distributed systems, with contributions to protocols, congestion control, and edge-cloud integration. His work on systems like Cricket (indoor localization) and CarTel (mobile sensing) led to Cambridge Mobile Telematics, a global telematics provider. He holds a PhD from UC Berkeley and BTech from IIT Madras, with accolades including the Marconi Prize and IEEE Fellowships.
