Prof. Dr. Harald Lachnit is a retired professor of Experimental and Biological Psychology at Philipps University of Marburg, affiliated with the Faculty of Psychology and the Department of General and Biological Psychology. He served as Vice President of the university from 2010 to 2016. His research focuses on associative learning mechanisms, attentional processes, and the integration of behavioral, computational, and neurobiological techniques to study learning and cognition in humans and animals.
Education: PhD from Justus Liebig University Giessen (1985), Habilitation (1991), and professorships at Philipps University since 1992. His work emphasizes stimulus properties, context effects, and temporal aspects of learning, supported by grants such as DFG SFB/TRR 135 and DFG SFB 1280. He collaborates on projects like the Research Training Group GRK 2271 (Expectation Violation).
Key research interests include prediction error dynamics, attentional allocation, and extinction learning. His studies often highlight similarities between human and animal learning mechanisms. He contributes to the SFB 1280 Extinction Learning project (TP B4 and A15) and leads the Associative Learning research group.
Funding and Grants: Involved in coordinated programs like the Collaborative Research Center (SFB) projects and the Research Training Group, focusing on extinction learning and perception mechanisms. His work bridges foundational psychology with clinical and neurobiological insights.
Labs/Teams: Associated with the "Associative Learning" team and the Center for Mind, Brain, and Behavior (CMBB). His research is disseminated through platforms like ResearchGate and ORCID, with publications in journals such as Behavioral Brain Research and Learning & Motivation.
