Hao Zhang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Integrated Science and Technology at James Madison University's College of Integrated Science & Engineering. His research focuses on sustainable manufacturing systems, advanced manufacturing processes, and life cycle engineering. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Oregon State University and a B.S. from Beijing Information Science & Technology University.
Dr. Zhang's work emphasizes integrating sustainability into manufacturing decision-making through systems thinking and dynamic modeling. His research spans topics like bioinspired additive manufacturing, waste recycling systems, and energy-efficient technologies. He has received the LEO Best Paper Award and is recognized for mentoring students in sustainable engineering education.
Key contributions include frameworks for sustainable decision-making in SMEs and lifecycle assessments of biofuel coproducts. His recent studies explore blockchain applications in circular supply chains and the environmental impact of 3D printing materials.
