Hansjörg Schmidt is an academic and lighting designer serving as the Interim Director of Production Arts and Programme Leader for the BA Production Arts at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, UK. Previously, he held leadership roles at Rose Bruford College, including Programme Director of the MA Light in Performance and BA Lighting Design. He is also a Performer in Residence at the Centre for Performance Science, focusing on bridging arts and science through lighting research.
His research emphasizes lighting design in inter-disciplinary live performance environments, exploring how light shapes artistic and scientific collaborations. Notable projects include work with clod ensemble, fevered sleep, and Imperial College through initiatives like the SHARP collaboration.
