Hansjörg Ewert serves as an Akademischer Rat (AR) at the Institute for Music Research within the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Würzburg. His academic profile shows active engagement with current contact information including office room 310 and direct telephone line.
Dr. Ewert studied music education at the Freiburg University of Music and Musicology, complemented by German Studies and Philosophy at the universities of Freiburg and Würzburg. He completed his state examination in 1994 and earned his doctorate with a thesis focused on Robert Schumann's opera 'Genoveva'.
His research interests center on 19th-century music history and medieval music history, with additional expertise in music theory. Prior to his academic career, he gained practical experience through various positions in opera direction and dramaturgy, as well as editorial projects.
Dr. Ewert initially joined the Department of Musicology in Würzburg as an assistant professor from 2001 to 2003 before advancing to his current position. His work contributes to the Institute's research initiatives including the Forum Musikforschung Bethlehem, Bruno-Stäblein-Archiv, and Corpus monodicum projects.
As a member of the active faculty team (distinct from the retired professors listed separately), he participates in the academic life of the Institute which offers Master's programs in Ethnomusicology and Music Pedagogy, along with the additional qualification in 'Digital Competence in the Humanities'.
