Hans Jørgen Andersen is an Associate Professor at Aalborg University's Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technology within the Technical Faculty of IT and Design. His work bridges robotics, urban design, and human-centric technologies. He holds a Ph.D. and leads research in interactive human-robot systems, urban sustainability, and augmented reality applications.
His research focuses on urban transformation, circular futures, and assistive robotics for vulnerable populations. Notable projects include 'Desire: Designing the Irresistible Circular Society' (2022–2024) and 'CultAR: Culturally Enhanced Augmented Realities' (2013–2015). He has contributed to over 90 publications, emphasizing human-robot interaction frameworks, smart city technologies, and sustainable urban design.
Andersen has advised one PhD student and secured funding for 15+ projects. His work appears in journals like Futures and Journal of Robotics. He engages with public discourse through media commentary on architectural education and urban policy.
