Hans Christian Mulvad

Hans Christian Mulvad is a Senior Research Fellow at the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) of the University of Southampton. His research focuses on hollow core fiber technology, particularly their application in ultra-high power laser delivery systems. He contributes to advancements in fiber optics, photonics, and laser technology.

His work involves optimizing hollow core fibers for applications like multiphoton microscopy, high-power laser transmission, and wideband optical communication. Key research groups include the Hollow Core Fibre, Pulsed Fibre Lasers, and Fibres and Communications groups.

Recent publications highlight breakthroughs such as kilowatt-average-power laser transmission over kilometer-scale hollow-core fibers and comparisons of hollow-core fibers with conventional silica fibers. His research emphasizes efficiency improvements in optical coupling and Raman scattering processes.

Currently supervising PhD student Ann Marie Lanari, Mulvad’s contributions bridge fundamental fiber optics research with practical applications in medical imaging, telecommunications, and high-power laser systems.
