Hanping Ding is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering at the University of Oklahoma. His research focuses on hydrogen production technologies, fuel cells, batteries, electrocatalysis, and integrated energy systems. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina (2014), an M.S. in Materials Science from the University of Science and Technology of China (2009), and a B.S. in Materials Science from Jilin University (China).
His research emphasizes protonic ceramic electrochemical cells, solid oxide fuel cells, and energy conversion systems. Notable areas include hydrogen production via electrolysis, methane conversion to aromatics and electricity, and the development of durable, high-performance electrochemical materials. Recent work includes advancements in triple-conducting electrodes, interface engineering for enhanced cell performance, and scalable manufacturing of proton-conducting electrolytes.
Ding's publications span topics such as self-sustaining protonic cells, electrochemical processing of natural gases, and computational modeling of material behavior.
