Hanoch Sheinman is a Professor of Philosophy and Law at Bar-Ilan University, with dual doctoral degrees from Princeton University (Ph.D. in Philosophy, 2006) and Yale University (Ph.D. in Law, 2007). He previously taught at Rice University and served as a law clerk for Justice Theodore Orr of the Supreme Court of Israel (1993-94).
Research Interests: Sheinman specializes in normative ethics, philosophy of law, and legal theory, focusing on constitutional theory and contract theory. His work explores the intersection of moral obligations, legal frameworks, and social conventions, particularly in promissory and contractual relationships.
Notable Publications: Recent contributions include the article "Act and Principle Contractualism" (Utilitas, 2011) and the edited volume Promises and Agreements: Philosophical Essays (Oxford University Press, 2011). His monograph Promise, Obligation, Agreement: An Essay in Social Philosophy and papers on promissory conventionalism and social diversity in contracts are forthcoming.
