Hannsjörg Weber is an Assistant Research Professor at the Department of Physics within the College of Arts and Sciences at Cornell University. His work focuses on experimental particle physics, detector technology development, and data analysis for the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
- Education: B.Sc. (2009), M.Sc. (2009), and Dr. sc. (2015), all from ETH Zürich.
Weber's research centers on Experimental Elementary Particle Physics, particularly collider physics and detector construction. He studies the Higgs boson self-coupling to understand cosmic matter-antimatter asymmetry and works on upgrading the CMS experiment's tracking detectors to withstand extreme radiation and data rates from the LHC. His recent publications emphasize monolithic silicon sensor development for future collider experiments.
He contributes to the CMS Collaboration and teaches courses like PHYS 4490: Independent Study in Physics. His technical expertise includes radiation-hard detector design, precision tracking algorithms, and electromagnetic calorimetry.
