Hanno Foerster is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Boston College, affiliated with the Department of Economics and an IZA Research Fellow. His research focuses on Labor Economics, Family Economics, and Applied Microeconomics. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Mannheim, along with a B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the University of Bonn.
His research explores topics such as the economic impacts of child support policies, labor market dynamics following job displacement, and the political economy of protective labor laws for women. Notably, his work has been recognized with the UniCredit Best Paper Award on Gender Economics for analyzing child support and alimony effects on couples’ welfare.
Recent studies include examining how job displacement influences remarriage and marital sorting, structural analysis of vacancy referrals in labor markets, and dual-earner job search frictions. His work bridges theoretical models with empirical analysis to inform policy debates on family and labor market outcomes.
