Hannes Lohi is a Professor in Molecular Genetics at the University of Helsinki, affiliated with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Department of Veterinary Biosciences. He leads the Helsinki One Health research group, focusing on canine and feline genetics as models for human diseases.
Research Interests include:
- Canine and feline models for human complex diseases
- Neurogenetics (epilepsy, ataxia, neurodegenerative disorders)
- Genetic risk factors for morphological and behavioral traits
- Development of diagnostic innovations like MyDogDNA and PetMETA
- Comparative medicine and One Health approaches
