Hanne Ingmer

Hanne Ingmer is a Professor in Microbial Food Safety and Zoonosis at the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. She leads the Microbial Food Safety research section and holds a PhD from the Technical University of Denmark. Her career includes positions at Stanford University and the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University.

Research Focus: Dr. Ingmer investigates antimicrobial resistance mechanisms in bacterial pathogens like Staphylococcus aureus, exploring bacteriophage-mediated resistance transmission, quorum sensing inhibition, and biocide tolerance. Her work targets MRSA, VRE, Listeria, and Campylobacter through molecular microbiology approaches.

Awards & Recognition:

• Teacher of the Year (2012)
• Secured >80 million DKK in research funding (EU programs, Lundbeck Foundation, DARPA)

Academic Leadership: Supervised 26 PhD students, 11 postdocs, and >90 MSc/BSc students. Serves as Associate Editor for Microbiology and PLoS One, and has held executive roles in Danish Research Councils.
