Hannah Menard serves as Director of the Legal Advice Clinic and Lecturer in Legal Practice at the University of South Wales (USW), within the School of Law, Accounting and Finance under the Faculty of Business and Creative Industries. She transitioned from legal practice to academia in 2016, bringing expertise in Family Law and Legal Aid compliance.
Education highlights include a Distinction in the Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (Cardiff University, 2004), an LLB from University of Southampton (2002), and a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (USW, 2019).
Her research focuses on enhancing clinical legal education through student engagement in pro bono clinics, with specific interests in access to justice and legal advice delivery mechanisms. Her work evaluates how legal clinics impact both student development and community legal needs.
External roles include Trustee of the Clinical Legal Education Organisation (CLEO), member of LawWorks Cymru Advisory Group, and steering group member of Cwm Taf Morgannwg Regional Advice Network. She advises law firms on SQM compliance and Lexcel implementation through cpm21.
Her activities include organizing the Cardiff Lawyers Care Legal Advice Clinic and contributing to initiatives like Streetlaw and ELiPS (Employment Litigant in Person Scheme). Hannah holds leadership roles at the Legal Wales Foundation as Treasurer and Board Member.
