Dr. Hannah Bargawi is Reader in Economics at SOAS University of London's Department of Economics and CoDEF Convenor for Learning and Teaching. She holds a BA from Manchester and MSc/PhD from London.
Her research examines macroeconomic policies, employment, and gender issues, particularly relationships between paid/unpaid work and women's health. Geographical focus includes East Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.

Current PhD students research poverty alleviation in Türkiye, maternal health in Turkey, social reproduction in South Africa, gender in energy transitions, and labor segmentation in Egypt.
