Hanna Krasowski is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Berkeley in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, affiliated with the Berkeley Artificial Intelligence Research (BAIR) group. She previously completed her PhD at the Technical University of Munich under Prof. Matthias Althoff and was a member of the DFG Research Training Group ConVeY.
Her research bridges formal methods and machine learning to develop safe reinforcement learning algorithms for autonomous systems, particularly focusing on maritime vessels and systems biology. She has contributed to motion planning frameworks like CommonOcean and CommonRoad-RL, which provide benchmarks and tools for evaluating autonomous vessel controllers.
Key trends in her 15 most recent publications include
- Integration of temporal logic into reinforcement learning for safety guarantees
- Development of action masking techniques to exclude unsafe RL actions
- Application of reachability analysis for robust control in underactuated systems
- Formalization of marine traffic rules and biomolecular models
She actively supports initiatives like Girls macht MI(N)T! and TUM Entdeckerinnen to encourage girls to pursue STEM careers. Her work emphasizes data-efficient and interpretable solutions for real-world automation challenges.
