Hanna Henryson is a Senior Lecturer at Stockholm University's Department of Slavic and Baltic Studies, Finnish, Dutch and German. With a PhD from Uppsala University (2020), she specializes in German-language literature with particular focus on urban themes and social inequality.
Her research centers on:
- Literary urban analysis of gentrification
- Modernist and contemporary urban narratives
- Swedish-German cultural intersections
- Narratology and character theory
- Language didactics applications
Recent publications examine:
- Post-reunification Berlin representations
- Homelessness in German-language fiction
- Urban self-build group ideologies
- 21st-century gentrification patterns
Awarded the 2022 Westin Prize for her dissertation on Berlin's urban transformation, she previously co-edited a language didactics volume and serves on the board of Germanistische Literaturwissenschaft in Schweden (GLS) network.
