Hanan Elgendy

Hanan Elgendy is a Clinical Associate Professor at the School of Dental Medicine, East Carolina University (ECU). She joined ECU in 2019 after serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Operative Dentistry at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry from 2016. Her expertise lies in CAD/CAM dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and light propagation analysis in dental materials. Dr. Elgendy holds a BDS (Ain Shams University, Egypt, 2007) and an MS in Operative Dentistry (University of Iowa, 2016). She transitioned to academia after five years in private practice in Egypt.

Her research focuses on optical properties of dental tissues and composite materials, with notable work published in Clinical Oral Investigations. She is affiliated with professional societies including the Academy of Operative Dentistry and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Elgendy contributes to dental education through innovative teaching methods, such as anatomical drawing workshops to enhance student clinical skills.
