Hana Ross is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health (Department of Health Policy and Management) and a Site Supervisor for the RSPH Practicum Program. She concurrently serves as Adjunct Faculty at Georgia State University's Institute of Public Health and holds Research Affiliate roles at the University of Cape Town's SALDRU and the International Clinical Research Center in Brno, Czech Republic.
Dr. Ross holds a B.A. and M.A. from the Prague School of Economics and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her research focuses on the economics of tobacco control, including taxation policies, illicit trade, and youth access laws, with recent projects examining tobacco control interventions in Africa, Southeast Asia, and the European Union. She also investigates noncommunicable disease risk factors such as obesity, physical inactivity, and alcohol consumption.
She has authored/co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed articles, independent reports, and editions of the Tobacco Atlas. Her work has been supported by major institutions including the World Bank, WHO, Rockefeller Foundation, and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. She currently leads research capacity-building initiatives in Africa and Asia, emphasizing global public health equity.
