Hamidreza Shabgard is an Associate Professor in the Department of Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering at the University of Oklahoma (College of Engineering). His research focuses on multiphase flow, heat transfer, computational fluid dynamics, and thermal energy storage, with notable work in phase change materials (PCMs) and heat pipe systems. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Connecticut (2014), an M.S. from Amirkabir University of Technology (2007), and a B.S. from Azad University of Mashhad (2003). His awards include 2nd place in the University of Connecticut’s graduate research competition (2014) and a doctoral dissertation fellowship (2013).
Shabgard’s research emphasizes innovative thermal management solutions for energy systems, including desalination technologies, lithium-ion battery cooling, and solar thermal applications. His work bridges theoretical modeling with experimental validation, addressing challenges in passive thermal-fluid systems and energy efficiency. Recent projects include developing zero-liquid-discharge desalination systems and hybrid thermal management methods for electric vehicles.
He has taught courses in thermodynamics, computational fluid dynamics, and heat transfer at institutions including the University of Oklahoma, Gannon University, and Drexel University. His publications span journals like International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer and Journal of Heat Transfer, with a focus on advancing thermal energy storage and sustainable engineering solutions.
