Hamid Karimi-Rouzbahani

Hamid Karimi-Rouzbahani is a Research Fellow at Macquarie University’s School of Psychological Sciences. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Shahid Rajaee University (2017), an MSc in Biomedical Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology (2013), and a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Shahid Rajaee University (2009). His research focuses on understanding visual perception and the role of attention in neural processing, employing EEG, fMRI, and computational methods. Key projects include exploring attention’s neural correlates in real-world monitoring tasks and ARC-funded studies with Anina Rich and Alexandra Woolgar.

Research interests span neuroscience, cognitive psychology, and electrophysiology, with emphasis on visual object representation and attention mechanisms. Notable contributions include decoding EEG signals for object recognition and investigating attention lapses in high-stakes environments like train control monitoring.

His 15 publications (2011–2022) cover topics like EEG replicability, multiscale activation patterns, and neural connectivity analysis. Awards include Distinguished PhD Thesis (2017) and multiple research grants, including the 2023 ARC project on brain networks of intelligence. Current work involves characterizing brain networks through information tracking (DE23 project, 2023–2026).
