Hamid Ahmad Mehrabi is an Associate Professor in Advanced Manufacturing and Materials at the University of Sunderland. With a PhD in heat treatment of steels and over 20 years of combined industry, research, and teaching experience, he focuses on sustainable manufacturing processes, materials characterization, and collaborative industry solutions. His research emphasizes resource efficiency in automotive, aerospace, and energy sectors while mentoring student projects across BSc, MSc, and PhD levels.
Research Interests: Structure-property-processing-sustainability relationships, engineering materials (metals/ceramics/polymers), additive manufacturing, casting technologies, and lightweighting strategies. He actively engages with automotive and energy industries to advance sustainable practices.
Teaching & Collaboration: Teaches manufacturing processes, materials science, and mechanical properties. Leads projects with companies to address real-world challenges, securing industry partnerships and funding. He emphasizes training the next generation in sustainable engineering practices.
