معرفی
Professor Hamed D. Ibrahim is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering and cross-appointed to the School of the Environment at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on hydrological modeling, ocean-atmosphere dynamics, and climate adaptation strategies for water resource management. He relocated from the U.S. to join the University of Toronto in January 2024.
- Education:
- BA in Mathematics, Amherst College
- MA in Political Economy of Resources, Colorado School of Mines
- MSc in Hydrology, Colorado School of Mines
- PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
His work addresses hydrological variability, land-sea surface interactions, and adaptive infrastructure design in the context of climate change, with applications to seawater desalination and regional water management. He emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and community engagement, as demonstrated by his PhD research on micro-hydropower systems for controlling vector-borne diseases in Tanzania.
- Affiliations:
- Hydrogroup, Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering
Ibrahim teaches courses related to water systems and environmental engineering. He aims to address global water challenges through innovative research and training future engineers. Outside academia, he enjoys mountaineering and exploring the Canadian outdoors.
