Hakan Yilmazkuday

Dr. Hakan Yilmazkuday is a Professor in the Department of Economics at Florida International University (FIU) and holds the role of Faculty Fellow for Research, Rankings, and Reputation at the Green School in DC. His research focuses on international economics, macroeconomic policy, trade dynamics, and the socioeconomic impacts of geopolitical risks. He has published over 85 articles in refereed journals, with notable contributions to understanding inflation, monetary policy, and the implications of global trade policies.

Dr. Yilmazkuday has been affiliated with prestigious institutions including the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a visiting scholar, the World Bank as a consultant, and Vanderbilt University’s Center for International Price Research. His work has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation. He was honored as an FIU Top Scholar in 2016 for his academic contributions.

His research interests span macroeconomic stability, trade elasticity, and the distributional effects of economic policies. Recent studies address topics such as the welfare costs of urban traffic, geopolitical risks on exchange rates, and the unequal inflationary impacts of tariffs.
