Haim Mendelson is the Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers Professor of Electronic Business and Commerce at Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB). He has held this full professorship since 1989, following a decade at the University of Rochester. His academic affiliations include the King Center on Global Development and leadership roles in initiatives such as the Value Chain Innovation Initiative and Center for Electronic Business and Commerce.
He holds a PhD (1979) and MSc (1977) from Tel Aviv University, and a BSc from Hebrew University (1972). His research focuses on electronic business platforms, supply chain dynamics, market microstructure, and organizational intelligence metrics like 'Organizational IQ.' He has published over 100 academic papers and co-authored influential books in these fields.
Mendelson’s awards include the Distinguished Fellow recognition from INFORMS Information Systems Society (2009). His service roles span editorial boards (Management Science, MIS Quarterly), program leadership in executive education (e.g., Electronic Commerce strategies), and advisory roles for tech firms and stock exchanges. He previously served as Chief Systems Analyst in the Israel Defense Forces Logistics Information Systems Center.
His advisory and grant activities include directing multi-stakeholder initiatives on global value chains and digital innovation. Research collaborations explore blockchain applications in supply chains and post-pandemic value chain resilience. Teaching specialties include electronic business strategy, information technology leadership, and organizational change management.
