Hailay Tedla is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Water and Environmental Engineering department. His research focuses on addressing environmental challenges in Ethiopia, particularly through the evaluation of satellite-based and reanalysis rainfall data for drought and flood applications, as well as improving flood early warning systems via citizen science approaches.
Research Interests: His work spans water resource management, risk analysis, catchment hydrology, and climate data validation. He investigates how satellite and reanalysis rainfall products perform in high-stakes scenarios like droughts, floods, and long-term water resource planning.
Projects: In 2024, he joined the Defrosting sedimentary systems project as a member, studying the impacts of seasonal thawing on river dynamics and material transport in high-latitude regions.
