Hafid Soualhine, PhD is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. He leads research focused on tuberculosis (TB) molecular epidemiology, drug resistance, and rapid diagnostic tools. His work integrates omics technologies (next-gen sequencing, proteomics) with computational methods to study TB transmission, pathogenesis, and host-pathogen interactions.
- Education: PhD in Molecular Biology (Pasteur Institute/University of Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah, 2001)
- Postdoctoral training: Laval University (2002–2005) and University of British Columbia (2006–2007)
Research interests include biomarker discovery for TB, recombinant vaccines, and collaborative screening programs with northern Indigenous communities. He directs the Canadian TR Reference Lab, advancing national TB elimination strategies through partnerships with provincial governments and organizations like the McGill International Tuberculosis Centre.
Currently accepting master's and PhD students in medical microbiology and infectious diseases.
