Hadi Khoshneviss is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Rhodes College, Department of Anthropology and Sociology. His research focuses on race/ethnicity, decolonial theory, social movements, and urban mobility, with a particular emphasis on Middle Eastern and North African communities in the U.S. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of South Florida.
His primary research projects examine whiteness construction through U.S. state institutions like the census and immigration laws, and investigates homelessness and urban design in Memphis through mobility theory. These projects critically analyze how race, gender, and nationality shape social boundaries and spatial control.
Khoshneviss has published extensively in top journals including Critical Sociology, Citizenship Studies, and Postcolonial Studies. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical studies on racial classification struggles, necropolitics in Puerto Rico, and geopolitical impacts on identity formation.

His academic contributions also extend to co-editing sections of the Sage Handbook of Political Sociology and reviewing films/documentaries on sociopolitical themes. Current work integrates decolonial perspectives with urban studies to explore how marginalized communities navigate spatialized oppression.
